Money Secrets that Boost Your Confidence (and Your Revenue) EP#29
Money Secrets Podcast – Episode 29
Introduction
We've made a lot of progress as a society in many areas, but one thing that hasn’t changed enough is our relationship with money. If we want to tip the scales in favour of marginalised people, we need to understand the secrets to making money in small business.
The more we talk about money — especially the secrets that usually stay behind closed doors or on the golf course — the more empowered we become. My mission is to get more money into the hands of good people, specifically business owners like you.
Because I believe small business can change the world. And to do that, we need to be making more money.
Acknowledgement of Country
This episode was recorded on the lands of the Wurundjeri People of the Kulin Nation. I’d like to acknowledge them as the Traditional Owners and custodians of this land and water that I live, work and play on.
I pay my respects to Elders past and present, and recognise that sovereignty has never been ceded. This always was, and always will be, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander land.
The Belief That Holds Us Back
“Money stuff just feels… hard.”
If you’ve ever felt stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure about how to make more money in your business — you're not alone. And the good news? You don’t need to have all the answers. Sometimes all it takes is a little reminder of what’s already possible for you.
That’s what today’s remix episode of Money Secrets is all about. We’ve gathered 8 of our most practical, powerful money tips to help shift your thinking, spark new ideas, and move you forward.
Whether you’re ready to raise your prices, change how you sell, or just feel more confident with money — this one’s for you.
1. Sales Might Feel Icky — Do It Anyway
Selling your products or services is non-negotiable if you want to run a business. But yes — it might feel awkward, icky, or even embarrassing when you’re starting out.
Here’s the shift:
Focus on the transformation your work brings. If you wholeheartedly believe that your service improves your client’s life or business, then it’s your job to communicate that clearly — whether through a discovery call, a proposal, or even an email.
And if you don’t believe your product helps people? That’s something worth digging into.
2. Your Mindset Matters More Than You Think
The old “stressed, broke, overworked business owner” trope? It’s toxic — and untrue.
If you constantly carry the belief that money is hard to make, that belief will shape your experience. Instead, start with clarity:
What money is coming in?
What’s going out?
What are your actual goals?
Clarity reduces anxiety and builds confidence. It’s the foundation of every smart money decision you’ll make.
3. Stop Spending From Your Client’s Wallet
Many business owners unknowingly limit their clients’ options — by trying to be “affordable” before they’ve even been asked.
Here’s a secret: let your clients decide.
Instead of presenting the cheapest version of your offer, show them your best. Give them the opportunity to invest in something that feels expansive and exciting. That’s often a milestone moment for them — and for you.
4. Don’t Guess Your Way to a Revenue Goal
You can’t just pluck a number out of the air and hope to hit your income goals. The real power lies in breaking it down:
How many products do you need to sell?
How many clients, events, or retainers do you need per month?
What’s the real math behind your goal?
Once you know the path to your number, everything feels more achievable

5. Success Is Personal — Not One-Size-Fits-All
Let’s let go of the idea that success = 7 figures and constant growth.
Maybe success for you means a 3-day workweek, or flexibility to care for your kids, or hitting $100k a year doing work you love.
You get to define what success looks like for you. That’s the only version that matters.
6. Making More Money ≠ Working Harder
We’ve been told for so long that more income requires more hours. But it’s simply not true.
The way to make more money is to:
Provide real value
Find the people who value it most
Communicate that value clearly
The clients who deeply value your work will happily pay for it. And when you work with the right people — you don’t have to work harder. You just have to work smarter.
7. Money Is a Tool for Good
Money isn’t greedy. It’s not bad. It’s not shameful.
Money creates impact.
When you’re doing good in the world — whether through your values, your voice, your business — more money simply amplifies that. It gives you choices. It gives you influence. It gives you breathing room.
More money in the hands of good people changes the world.
8. You Don’t Need to Be “Good at Maths”
This is a big one. So many business owners (especially women) believe they’re bad at money because they weren’t good at maths at school. But here’s the truth:
Making money isn’t about numbers — it’s about mindset and communication.
If you can clearly explain the value of what you do — in a way that connects with your audience — that’s what drives revenue. The math can be supported with good systems, tools, and the right people.
Final Thoughts
Every one of these money secrets is designed to help you feel more empowered, more informed, and more confident in your business.
So ask yourself:
Which secret do I need to hear most today?
What tiny action can I take now to shift things forward?
What’s already working — and how can I do more of it?
You don’t have to figure it all out at once. Just start with one secret. One belief. One decision.
Money is not the enemy. It's a resource — and you're allowed to have more of it.
