What You’ll Learn in This Episode
Why manifesting does work: Fi explains how manifesting is really a clarity practice + behavioural shift, not a lightning bolt from the universe.
The neuroscience behind manifesting: Dr Tara Swart’s work shows that when you repeat a goal often, in your mind, writing, or voice, your brain starts noticing opportunities that were always there (Hello, white Toyota Corolla effect).
Why clarity is the true foundation: You cannot manifest what you cannot name. Fi shares why speaking your goals out loud to a trusted person can fast-track clarity.
How repeating your goals changes your behaviour: When you keep telling yourself, “I want to make $100K this year,” you show up differently. You market more, network more, back yourself more, and take smarter action.
Why community and coaching make manifesting more powerful: Speaking your goals out loud helps create clarity, accountability, and momentum, which is why Good Money Club is built around thinking, planning, and acting together.
The importance of mapping out the how: Once you know the goal, the next step is breaking down the actions that get you there, something Fi teaches and supports inside Good Money Club.
Manifesting Your Money
Money Secrets Podcast – Episode 51
Introduction
We've made a lot of progress as a society in many areas, but one thing that hasn’t changed enough is our relationship with money. If we want to tip the scales in favour of marginalised people, we need to understand the secrets to making money in small business.
The more we talk about money — especially the secrets that usually stay behind closed doors or on the golf course — the more empowered we become. My mission is to get more money into the hands of good people, specifically business owners like you.
Because I believe small business can change the world. And to do that, we need to be making more money.
Acknowledgement of Country
This episode was recorded on the lands of the Wurundjeri People of the Kulin Nation. I’d like to acknowledge them as the Traditional Owners and custodians of this land and water that I live, work and play on.
I pay my respects to Elders past and present, and recognise that sovereignty has never been ceded. This always was, and always will be, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander land.
Why Manifesting Isn’t Woo — It’s Strategy
Manifesting is one of those topics that can feel a bit… unexpected in a conversation about small business and money. But after working with thousands of business owners over 25 years, here’s what I know for sure:
Manifesting works — just not the way people think it does.
It’s not about thinking a thought once and waiting for the universe to drop success into your lap.
It’s about clarity. Repetition. Focus. And most importantly: action.
Whether you’re manifesting $100K in revenue, better clients, or more confidence in your business decisions, this isn’t magic. It’s neuroscience, mindset, and behaviour working together.
Let’s break down how it really works.
The Real Power Behind Manifesting: Clarity
You cannot create what you cannot articulate. Most business owners try to “manifest” something vague or undefined. And clarity is the true missing ingredient.
When you say your goals out loud — ideally to another person — something shifts.
You hear yourself.
You refine the goal.
You realise what you actually want.
This is why coaching and mentoring are powerful. So many of us are oral processors: we think best when we speak. Manifestation begins the moment you name the desire clearly and confidently.
The Neuroscience Behind Manifesting
Neuroscientist Dr. Tara Swart explains manifesting in a way that aligns perfectly with what I’ve seen in small business for decades.
When you repeat a goal — writing, saying, thinking — your brain starts scanning your environment differently. It notices opportunities that were always there, but were invisible before.
It’s the white Toyota Corolla effect:
You buy the car → suddenly you see it everywhere.
Your brain is wired for pattern recognition.
When you keep reminding it of your intention, it starts picking up patterns that support that intention.
So if your goal is:
“I’m going to make $100K this year.”
Your brain begins searching for opportunities that move you closer to $100K.
Noticing collaborations.
Spotting gaps in your marketing.
Feeling braver about promoting your work.
Remembering to follow up that potential client.
Showing up differently.
Manifesting is simply directing your brain’s natural filtering system toward what you want.
Thought Alone Isn’t Enough — Action Is the Difference
Here’s the part people skip:
Manifesting only works when you act.
You cannot journal your way to $100K revenue.
You cannot meditate your way to better clients.
What makes manifesting powerful is the combination of:
So… What Counts as “Manifesting”?
It doesn’t have to be crystals, chanting, or the perfect morning routine.
You can manifest using:
a spreadsheet
a vision board
a notebook
meditation
mantras
a whiteboard
singing your goals out loud (yes, singing!)
Manifesting isn’t about the tool — it’s about the repetition and the emotional connection to the goal. Sometimes singing your manifesting mantra hits a different part of your brain and makes the whole thing feel lighter and more joyful.
Use whatever medium helps your intention stick.
Why Speaking Your Goals Out Loud Matters
Many business owners try to manifest in silence — sitting alone at a computer, working hard, but unclear on what they truly want.
Speaking your goals out loud brings:
clarity
confidence
momentum
accountability
Tell a mentor, a coach, or someone you trust:
“I want to manifest a $100K year.”
Now you’ve created a line in the sand.
You’ve named the thing.
Your brain can get to work.
Turning Your Manifestation Into a Plan
This is where most people fall down: they name the desire but never build the map.
Once you’re clear on what you want, the next step is:
How will you get there?
Break the big goal down into:
revenue targets
client numbers
products or services
marketing commitments
habits and behaviours
weekly or monthly actions
This is what we do inside Good Money Club every month — align thoughts, behaviours, and actions so the results naturally follow.
